PETE SMITH'S ROCK PILE/SPOTLIGHT ARTIST/MYRA PEARCE
Myra Pearce is country through and through. Born in Washington she began singing at an early age. Her voice and talent for songwriting took her to Nashville but found her roots in Montana where she indulges her love of horses and rodeos. Myra, though, is a professional musician. She has her own studio on her ranch and dedicates two hours each day and every day to polishing her talents. When I first heard Myra I was struck by the similarity of her voice to one of my top favourite ladies, Connie smith, so Myra certainly gained my attention. The songs she records will grab the attention of any real country lover with their realistic tales of life performed in styles ranging from western swing to tear jerkng ballads to honky tonking two steppers. Myra's first album, 'Somebody Loves You' (AlyMar) contains all these styles on great performances of 'For the Last Time','You Are Always There For Me',and 'Somebody Loves you Honey'. There is also a beautiful inspirational piece, 'Let Me Help You Carry The Weight and a Gospel version of the Jack Greene classic 'He is My Everything'. The second and current, album, "Drag Your Own Wagon' (AlyMar) has such great tracks as the weeper 'A Better Place to Die, the two steppiing 'Bad Times', a superb cut on the classic 'It Wasn't God Who Made HonkyTonk Angels', the sultry ballad 'Tell Me Something New (Patsy Cline fans will love this!) and the swinging 'Tried And True'. Myra Pearce will convince even the most pessimistic that real country is alive and well and will in Montana. www.myrapearce.com
